Background:
At the time of the 2008 International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH), the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) showed its gratitude and appreciation for its first Executive Director, Beverlee Anderson, who retired on July 1, 2008. Beverlee’s vision and promotion of simulation helped the Society achieve significant milestones. Beverlee was recognized for her efforts at the January 12, 2008 Board of Directors meeting as well as the membership business meeting in San Diego. It was with great honor that the Board of Directors announced the establishment of the Beverlee Anderson Education Scholarship Fund (BAESF) to continue her mission to provide support to attend IMSH and other SSH-sponsored educational activities.
About the Fund:
Since the untimely death of Beverlee in September of 2009, the SSH BOD set up a memorial fund to build on the already established Scholarship fund. All are invited to contribute to this fund. Scholarships will be awarded for the annual IMSH based on application review by a pre-determined committee. The fund application is tied directly to Beverlee’s interest and past commitment of providing “scholarships” to those she identified as having a need for support in order to attend IMSH meetings.
Two scholarships have been awarded to attend IMSH 2013. Check back in summer 2013 for information about the IMSH 2014 scholarship.
