August 31, 2015: The Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) announces a major milestone for the Certified Healthcare Simulation Educators (CHSE) program. Since its launch in 2012, over 600 individuals from 17 countries have successfully completed the examination. Achievement of CHSE demonstrates excellence, professionalism and a commitment to improving healthcare simulation education.
“Recognizing acquiring certification is a voluntary opportunity that allows individuals to demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and abilities, the Certification Committee extends its congratulations to this esteemed group” said Certification Committee Chair, Sharon Decker, RN, Ph.D., ANEF, FAAN. “We challenge other educators from both academia and practice to join this respected group of individuals.“
Individuals who obtain CHSE may work toward the Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator-Advanced (CHSE-A) designation. “We also challenge those individuals who qualify to demonstrate their position as a leader and expert in healthcare simulation education to become a CHSE-A” added Dr. Decker.
In addition, the SSH Certification Committee encourages operations specialists focused on healthcare simulation to distinguish themselves by obtaining certification as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist, CHSOS.
