What is new in Certification
“Professional accountability requires a self-regulating profession to set and maintain credible, useful standards for its members. Voluntary certification and recertification--evaluation by peers--serves the responsibility of the profession to establish and enforce its own standards.” -JA Benson
Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS)
The development is going very well, and the results of the practice analysis will be finalized soon. Thank you to everyone who contributed to and competed the survey--your input is more important than you can imagine!
The name of the certification was finally agreed upon--something that was none too easy given the wide range of individuals who fall into this role. Be it an Operations Specialist, a Simulation Technician, a Simulation Technologist...all of the duties involved in preparing and delivering simulations from behind the scenes are part of the work this certification addresses.
Be sure to attend the Sim Ops Symposium just prior to IMSH 2014 to learn about the many challenges that are faced by simulation operators--and the many solutions that can be found.
Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE)
The CHSE certification launched in June 2012. Since then, applicants from 15 countries have applied to become a CHSE and 277 healthcare simulation professionals have become certified!
Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator-Advanced (CHSE-A)
The pilot is underway for the CHSE-A certification. We expect to award the first CHSE-A certifications at IMSH 2014!
