For the position of: Director at Large
It has been a privilege to serve as a Director-at-Large on the SSH Board of Directors. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the Society’s mission and community, and I am seeking reelection for a second term to continue this important work.
I care deeply about the growth and sustainability of healthcare simulation and the people who make this work possible. My interest in serving again is rooted in my desire to continue advancing initiatives that support our members, develop future leaders, advocate for the profession, and promote innovation across the field.
Over the past term, I’ve had the honor of leading two key initiatives aligned with member needs and SSH’s Strategic Plan. The first is the Advancing Simulation Careers & Empowering Next-Generation Development (ASCEND) program, SSH’s leadership development and recognition program for early-career simulationists. As a co-developer and inaugural leader, I’ve seen firsthand the value of investing in emerging talent. ASCEND is building momentum and offering new pathways for mentorship, engagement, and leadership. One of the most inspiring aspects has been witnessing so many experienced simulation leaders step forward to serve as mentors. Their generosity reflects the strength of our community and a shared commitment to nurturing the next generation of healthcare simulation leaders.
The second initiative is the Simulation-Grounded Competency-Based Education (SG-CBE) Task Force, which I codeveloped and currently chair. This group is creating a framework for simulation-grounded CBE that integrates best practices and will be adaptable across health professions. Early accomplishments include launching a robust SG-CBE affinity group, securing a session at IMSH 2025, submitting proposals for preconference sessions at IMSH 2026, and initiating a comprehensive scoping review to inform the framework development.
In addition to leading these initiatives, I’ve contributed to broader Board efforts, including refinement and approval of the SSH Strategic Plan and Strategic Readiness Assessment. As Director-at-Large, I’ve worked to represent the diverse voices of our membership, drawing on experiences in Sections, SIGs, AGs and collaborative workgroups to bring member perspectives forward. I also represent both academic and clinical environments, bringing a collaborative mindset and strong commitment to inclusive leadership to every discussion.
Looking ahead, my vision for SSH over the next three years is grounded in growth, sustainability, and member empowerment. I’m excited how each pillar of our Strategic Plan (Advocacy, Research & Innovation, Education & Learning, Credentialing, and Organizational Sustainability & Growth) will advance healthcare simulation and improve patient safety and outcomes. If I were to highlight one area, it would be Organizational Sustainability & Growth. SSH plays a vital role in supporting a global community committed to advancing safer, more effective care. A resilient and thriving SSH ensures the continued advancement of healthcare simulation and maximizing its impact on patient outcomes.
Thank you for the opportunity to be considered for a second term, and for the chance to continue serving and contributing to the Society’s mission, with gratitude for this community, a spirit of collaboration, and a clear sense of purpose.
