It is an honor to be nominated for the position of President-Elect of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.
SSH has been one of the most influential professional homes of my career. It is where I found mentors, collaborators, and lifelong colleagues who share a commitment to advancing healthcare through simulation education. More importantly, it is a community that brings together professionals from diverse disciplines, backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, united by a common goal: improving healthcare through simulation-based education.
Over the past decade, I have had the privilege of serving SSH in a variety of leadership roles, including the Board of Directors (BoD), BoD Executive Committee, Finance and Audit Committee, Advocacy Committee, Strategic Partnership Task Force, and the Simulation Grounded Competency-Based Education (SG-CBE) Task Force. This work has focused on strengthening the Society's financial sustainability, advancing advocacy initiatives, supporting membership, fostering strategic partnerships, and expanding SSH's global reach. These experiences have strengthened my appreciation for the incredible breadth of expertise within our Society and the opportunities ahead for SSH to expand its impact.
If elected President-Elect, my priorities will focus on three areas:
Strengthening Our Community by expanding mentorship, leadership development, and opportunities for engagement across all professions, career stages, and practice settings. SSH's diversity is one of our greatest strengths, and I am committed to ensuring every member feels connected, valued, and supported. I am also committed to supporting innovation, research, and scholarship by identifying opportunities to strengthen collaboration, mentorship, and funding pathways that help advance the science and practice of simulation.
Building Strategic Partnerships by strengthening relationships across simulation organizations, healthcare organizations, accrediting bodies, regulators, industry partners, and healthcare leaders. Through advocacy and outreach, we can continue to elevate simulation's role in healthcare education, workforce development, competency assessment, and patient safety. As healthcare systems continue to face workforce shortages and increasing complexity, simulation must have a seat at the table in shaping the future of healthcare.
Expanding Our Global Impact by fostering international collaboration, supporting global training and educational opportunities, and advancing initiatives such as the World Alliance for Healthcare Simulation (WAHS). This global initiative brings together simulation organizations, networks, and communities of practice to collaborate, share expertise, and develop coordinated solutions to challenges facing healthcare simulation worldwide. This work reflects a core belief of mine: the future of simulation depends on meaningful partnerships, shared learning, and a collective global voice. Through collaboration, we can amplify the voice of simulation and address challenges facing healthcare systems worldwide.
SSH's greatest strength has always been its members. Together, we have built a community that continues to shape the future of healthcare. I believe our next chapter is one of expanded partnerships, stronger advocacy, greater global engagement, and increased opportunities for our members to learn, lead, and grow.
