You've spent years shaping healthcare simulation — through committee work, mentorship, research, teaching, or leading your program forward. SSH Fellowship is the Academy's way of recognizing that sustained contribution, and inviting you to help set its future direction.
Fellows are a small group of leaders and renowned simulationists distinguished for outstanding, sustained contributions to the field. Becoming a Fellow means:
- Formal recognition for your contributions to SSH and to healthcare simulation
- A voice in shaping SSH's future path and project directions
- A role in advancing the art, science, and practice of healthcare simulation as part of the SSH Academy
Fellows are expected to stay active in the Academy and to advance SSH's mission through high-level initiatives after they're recognized.
Minimum Requirements
To apply, you must have:
- Been an SSH member for seven years
- A combination of substantial contributions to SSH and to the field of healthcare simulation
Before You Apply
Before deciding whether to apply, we strongly recommend reading the Fellows Application Handbook (link below). It's the fastest way to see how your record maps to what the Academy is looking for.
Request a mentor. A limited number of current Fellows are available to review your application packet and offer insight before you submit. This support exists so a strong record doesn't get lost in a weak application. Email Director@simcertification.com to request a mentor. A request deadline will be posted soon — request early.

How to Apply
- Identify two references. Choose people who can speak directly to your contributions to SSH and/or healthcare simulation. Strongly consider including at least one current Fellow. Send them the online reference form — only two references per applicant.
- Request a mentor (optional). See above.
- Complete the online application, including your simulation-focused CV.
- Update your SSH profile so it accurately reflects your service record — this is part of what reviewers evaluate.
- Submit your application fee. You'll receive an invoice after your application is received. Prior to starting your application, it is highly recommended that you review the application handbook for instructions and helpful insight into the application and evaluation process.
How Applications Are Evaluated
A panel of current Fellows reviews every application. They evaluate your application, your CV, both reference forms, and your SSH profile together, looking for evidence of sustained contribution to SSH and to the healthcare simulation community.
Share any of the following in your application that apply to you:
- Elected office (Board of Directors, Treasurer, etc.)
- Committee chair or member
- IMSH meeting chair
- IMSH faculty or course director
- Service on the Simulation in Healthcare Editorial Board
- Reviewer for the Simulation in Healthcare Journal
- SIG chair or member
- Founding member of SSH
- Working Group, Special Project, or Task Force chair or member
- Affinity Group chair or member
- Published contributions to simulation, in print or online
- Evidence of support for SSH's mission, goals, and growth
- Development of simulation programs
- Scholarly or service contributions advancing simulation
- Technology innovations
What Fellowship Costs and What It Supports
Fellowship carries two costs on top of current SSH membership, which is required:
- Application fee: $100, paid by every applicant. This funds the review and evaluation process, carried out by a multidisciplinary panel of existing Fellows.
- Annual Fellow dues: $250, including your first year. These support SSH Academy activities — the initiatives Fellows lead after they're recognized.
