The SSH Discovery Award: Creating Immediate Impact!

Announced on October 1, 2024, the new SSH Discovery Award recognizes the importance of funding larger, longer-range projects led by experienced researchers in the field. This has been a goal of SSH’s already successful research award program, and the SSH Fund is helping make this award possible.

Compared to other research grants awarded by SSH, the Discovery Award was worth $30,000, and the first submission deadline for a Letter of Intent was October 28, 2024. The first-ever winner was announced at IMSH 2025 in Orlando this past January:

Marc Lazarovici was the award winner with his project: Transforming Education: The Impact of XR Simulations on Learning Outcomes

The SSH Research Committee identified nine (9) major funding priorities for consideration but also maintained an openness to considering high-quality proposals that advance theoretical and applied knowledge in healthcare simulation research.

If you would like to support research grants, Beverlee Anderson Scholarships, Simventor Awards, or the Chad Epps Keynote Lecture at IMSH, then please consider making a gift to the SSH Fund. It’s easy!
