One of the questions I hear most from SSH members after IMSH is some version of: "How do I keep this going?" They have spent several days in deep conversation with colleagues, attending sessions, making connections — and then they return home to their programs and wonder how to maintain that energy for the eleven months before the next conference. The answer lives inside of your SSH member benefits with two amazing SSH resources that sometimes get overlooked.
SIMCONNECT
The first is SimConnect, SSH's member-exclusive online community. SimConnect is where SSH members discuss specific challenges in their programs, share resources, ask questions of peers who have been through what they are working through, and stay connected with their Sections, SIGs, and Affinity Groups between events. The SSH community that filled the halls at IMSH is the same community that is active on SimConnect throughout the year.
SIMULATION IN HEALTHCARE JOURNAL
The second is Simulation in Healthcare — SSH's peer-reviewed journal and one of the field's most important research resources. Member access to SiH is one of the most substantive benefits of SSH membership, and one of the least discussed. The journal publishes original research, systematic reviews, and scholarship that directly informs how simulation programs are designed, how simulation-based education is evaluated, and how the field's evidence base grows. Reading it is not just continuing education. It is staying connected to the intellectual core of what SSH exists to advance.
SSH's broader events calendar rounds out year-round engagement: SimSeries webinars weekly, Virtual Learning Labs with industry partners, Best Practices Workshops with limited enrollment, and the Women in Leadership Virtual Symposium. The between-events experience of membership is where its real value either materializes or does not. A member who attends IMSH and then disengages for eleven months is not getting what their membership is designed to provide.
